About event
Three veterans from the First World War, Gustav, René and Fernand, live together in a retirement home - they regularly meet on the terrace of their current refuge, remember their past and poke without knowing that the greatest battle of their lives is still waiting. One is a cynic with a big heart, suffering from fear of the outside world. Every moment, he faints because of the splinter from the shrapnel, stuck in his head, and is therefore unable to lead a longer conversation. The third is a pragmatist and a cautious optimist who, despite his limp - tries to stand firmly on the ground. At one point, this trio decides to resist a monotonous life "in the retirement" in which the only perspective represents death, and together they plan a trip to the hill on the horizon, at the top of which the wind runs through the branches of poplar. Will our heroes succeed in this last life adventure? And confirms the rule that man is just as old as he feels? The Czech audience will probably know him as a co -author of the successful comedies for one and a half hour delay (2006) and such a small joke (2002). For French theaters, he also adapted, for example, Hitchcock 39 degrees or Keyes Roses for Algernon. The moving comedy The Wind in the Branches of the poplar (2003), which is presented in the Knights in the Czech premiere under the title Heroes, which has established Tom Stoppard in the Anglo -Saxon world, was nominated for the French prestigious Molière Award and won the Laurence Olivier Award for the best comedy of the year.
