About event

Do you like movies for witnesses? Are you interested in the history of the film and your city? Then you are ready this discussion, which will take place under the auspices of the mayor of Martina Maleček. In Brno he spent part of his youth until his departure to Prague.

He worked as an actor until his forced exile on the boards of the National Theater in Prague and also played a number of film roles. Of the best known we can name, for example, men in offsid, white disease or morality above all. He also successfully played the film in the US and played a number of supporting roles alongside well -known acting personalities. He eventually settled in Vienna. Here in 1968 he gave the workers of the Brno studio of Czechoslovak Television the last interview. On the one hand, Jiří Steinmetz, who personally participated in the interview as a sound engineer and director Jiří Vondrák, son of Jiří Vondráček, an editor who then led the interview and contributed to the fact that the interview was filmed at all. The guests tell us their personal memories of Hugo Haas and we will project a large part of this interview. This unique discussion should not miss any lover of films for witnesses. Sarka Jelinek Gmiterkova, Ph.D. - Assistant to the Institute of Film and Audiovisual Culture of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, who tells us much about the life and work of this prominent personality. Thanks to the kindness of the Haasovic family, we also have a number of photos, including one signed directly by the master and authentic letters that Hugo Haas sent to his relatives from the American exile. Last but not least, we will also learn if Hugo Haas had something to do with our city district.
