About event
"I actually don't want to know this," investigative journalist Huib Modderkolk is regularly told when he talks about the dangers of modern technology. He finds the same attitude in companies and the government.
When he himself becomes the target of an intelligence operation, Modderkolk experiences the consequences of that naive attitude. His subsequent research brings him to people who, sometimes at the risk of their lives, demonstrate step by step that the internet is a magnificent weapon. From The Hague to Saint Petersburg and from Eindhoven to Tehran, he comes across terrifying stories that normally remain hidden. He discovers where our most intimate data ends up, why the Netherlands distributed a risky detection system and how far China has penetrated critical systems worldwide. 'You really don't want to know this' is - just like Modderkolk's widely praised book 'It's war but no one sees it' - a blood-curdling page turner about the dark sides of online society.
'You really don't want to know this' was only published over a year ago. An updated version will be released this fall. Huib Modderkolk visits the FlexBieb to talk about it.
