HYB4 Galerie: 50let Katedry fotografie FAMU: Cvičení z archivu

The exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Photography FAMU is conceived unconventionally - as a return to the time at the birth and first years of the existence of an independent department. Ján Šmok founded a separate department of photography. The profile of the graduate was determined primarily by the system of compulsory exercises that the student had to complete. The exhibition therefore presents the department through demonstrations of these exercises from the Archive of the Department of Photography in the Beroun studio and the archive of the final works stored in the UMPRUM Museum. It is not a "best" show, but a reflection of the teaching system, which even in the difficult period of normalization was able to retain space for creative freedom. With the advent of digital photography around 2000, student exercises gradually ceased to archive - it is here that our retrospective ends. The current appearance of the department is represented by a parallel exhibition in the Gamu Gallery.
