Swedish death metal stalwarts Hypocrisy are heading to Bratislava! The formation around the distinctive frontman Peter Tägtgren will bring an original view of death metal with a thematic focus on mystical and sci-fi themes. Support will be provided by Abbath, Vomitory and Vreid.
Hypocrisy formed in 1991 in the Swedish town of Ludvika and from their beginnings were characterized by a dark, aggressive sound that combined fast death metal riffs with cool and atmospheric production. Already their debut album Penetralia (1992) showed that Hypocrisy are not just another death metal project, but a band with a clear vision and the ability to create evocative, dense music that leaves a strong impression.
One of the defining features of Hypocrisy is their thematic focus on extraterrestrial civilizations, conspiracies and the supernatural. These mystical and sci-fi themes intertwine in their lyrics and visual style, giving them a unique identity in the death metal scene. Musically, the band has constantly evolved - from the raw, fast style of the beginnings to the melodic and technical elements present on albums such as Abducted (1996) to the distinctive atmosphere and modern production that can be heard on later recordings, such as End of Disclosure (2021). The band is characterized by aggressive, icy riffs, characteristic high vocals and energy that combines classic Norwegian black metal with more modern elements. Their music stays true to the gritty, dark sound of the Nordic scene, but at the same time offers catchy and epic melodies that appeal to both old and new fans of the genre.
The other frontrunner is Swedish death metallers Vomitory. They are known for their relentless aggression, which permeates their entire work. Get ready for crushing riffs, disturbing growling and raw intensity.
Vreid - Norwegian black/thrash metal sensation closes the line-up. Their music combines the cold atmosphere of Nordic black metal with energetic thrash riffs and strong melodic lines, with lyrics often reflecting on history, war and personal themes.
