Movie Barf Monday is a film night dedicated to screening English-friendly films in Prague's Edison Filmhub. Every film features an introduction from film presenter Ryan Keating as well as a discussion with a special guest.
❤️🩹 Based on the true story of John Davidson, I Swear tells an intimate and powerful story of his initially carefree adolescence, which ends in a harsh alienation as he is rejected by an uncomprehending world and struggles to find his own path in life. John’s encounter with Dottie (Maxine Peake), the energetic mother of a former classmate, opens a new path for him into a world where he finds support, understanding, and the courage to face his own life and destiny.
Director Kirk Jones, who also wrote and produced the film, focuses on the real-life experiences and moral dilemmas faced by people with Tourette’s syndrome and their loved ones. The film received five nominations at the BAFTAS, winning three - Best Leading Actor: Robert Aramayo, EE Rising Star: Robert Aramayo, and Best Casting: Lauren Evans.
