Also this year, together with you, we will commemorate the International Day of Fight against Homophobia, Bifobia and Transfobia, the so -called. Idahobit. This day is an annual reminder that the World Health Organization (WHO) 17 May 1990 eliminated homosexuality from the list of mental illness and behavioral disorders, which is part of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). At the beginning of 2022, the new version of the ICD 11 entered into force, which the WHO finally eliminated from the list of mental illness and behavioral disorders, and the so -called. gender mismatch.
Despite the fact that the equality of LGBTI+ people is also protected by international law, in Slovakia and many of our neighboring or partner countries the human rights situation is still desperate. We must state this tragic fact every year - with increasing hatred speeches in the online space and on the political scene, this statement appears to be more aptly and the call after the change all the more acute.
In Slovakia we have repeatedly listened to the rights of people's rights our country is not ready or that we are asking for something extra for them. US President Trump's administration attacks people's rights, especially the rights of transrodal people on a daily basis. In Hungary, they banned not only alleged promotion of homosexuality, but also marches of pride, so -called. Pride, in Poland, LGBTI+ people face systematic attacks and discrimination, the adoption of marriages for all in the neighboring Czech Republic is only a small patch for a desperate situation in our region. There is no need for special preparation to protect human rights, and the will, especially the political, is enough.
Therefore, on the occasion of Idahobit, together with you and our partner organizations, whose list we will add here soon, we will call on the government, parliament and all responsible persons to stop the systemic attacks and oppression of the Kvirus of people and begin to fulfill their human rights commitments.
