About event
In the introductory lecture of another cycle of theatrology society, we will focus on the development of the Czech, or Czechoslovak Stage Dance, which recorded at the turn of the 50th and 60th years. Although in the dance/ballet area we can find the equivalent of the creation of small forms or the so -called new waves, its importance still escapes the attention of researchers and the wider public. The personality of choreographers Jiří Blažek, Luboš Ogoun and Pavel Šmok described the core of this change. While Jiří Blažek applied a new approach to the dramaturgy and the loosening of the form of the classic dancing in the repertoire of feature ballet, Šmok and Ogoun began to focus on experiment and finding new forms. Their joint efforts culminated in 1964 by establishing the studio Ballet Prague, so we will commemorate their work and important works that arose on the ground plan of the dramaturgy of this chamber body, whose origin is an act of a certain dramaturgical defiance. We will outline the fundamental characteristics and differences in the creation of both choreographers and the typical features of their forming manuscript on examples of successful opuses, by which Ballet Prague represented domestic production mainly abroad. We will also point to inspirational resources and the influence of fundamental historical events as the formative experience of these personalities for their work. For only if we know the past of the field, we can develop it and innovate it in a truly creative way today.
