IGersWalk in the Albertina – Robert Longo (empty museum)

Tuesday, November 5, 2024 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Robert Longo (*1953, Brooklyn) is known for his monumental hyperrealistic images: powerful, dynamic charcoal drawings that take you through the virtuoso technique and the image power of the motif cast a spell over them.

He chooses photographs as models that capture dramatic situations at the greatest moment of tension.

The artist is concerned with showing power – in nature, politics and history.

Longo uses images that have been published thousands of times and have become part of our popular culture, often our collective memory.

He isolates and reduces the motifs with the aim of potentiating the image's effect.

Thanks to the enlargement on the one hand and the lighting direction, which significantly intensifies the light-dark contrasts on the other, we are faced with huge, never-before-seen theatrical images.

Following this relaxed tour through the exhibition halls As usual, let's enjoy cool drinks in the state rooms of the Albertina.
