The New York Times described Matthew Wong as "one of the most talented painters in his generation".

The Chinese-Canadian artist is a cross-border commuter between Far Eastern and Western art, equally influenced by van Gogh and Shitao, which are of particular importance for his individual development.

Wong, who chose suicide at the age of 35, was a later autodid act: his impressive work was created in the short period of his eight years of life.

The artist deals with positions of modernity as well as with contemporary varieties of expressive art.

The exhibition is a comparison of around 60 Paintings and numerous work on paper from Wong and selected work designed van Goghs.

She is a cooperation with the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, the Kunsthaus Zurich and the Matthew-Wong Foundation.

After this relaxed tour of the exhibition halls, we enjoy cool drinks in the parliamentary rooms of the Albertina.
