After the liberation of Vienna in early April 1945, destruction, housing shortage, hunger and cold shaped everyday life. Nevertheless, cultural life quickly returned. Already on April 27, the game was resumed on the command of Soviet officers. A little later, the other Allies - France, Great Britain and the USA - also appeared culturally. During the Allied presence, the city was more than ever a space of international artistic influences.

The numerous cultural activities should, in addition to the economic and political reconstruction, cause the emotional basis for the creation of an Austrian consciousness - that is, the training of its own self -image. the formative influence of the diverse cultural offer. It thus documents a success: the creation of a democratic Austrian identity. & daughters
