Oratory on a universal theme, Il Trionf del Time and Del Disinganno is a work that echoes in each of us.
Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1859) arrived in Rome in 1707, determined to dive into the world of music and opera in particular. Bringing an aura of a great organist behind him, he quickly found his place within the Roman elite. There was only one if not: just before his arrival, the Pope had forbidden, only in the city of Rome, the public presentation of operas. Author of numerous texts intended for music, he ordered Händel an oratory with a libretto of his own, entitled La Bellezza Ravduta Nel Trionf del Timo and Del Dysinganno.
Händel was prevented from writing an opera but not using their formal resources. In Il Trionfo, the singers, especially the characters beauty and pleasure, a superlative vocal technique is required, and the whole work is loaded with expressiveness. By the way, not being able to count on Skilling Expedients, Händel had to explore the full potential of musical eloquence to characterize the different characters. Beauty is the most developing character, oscillating among the arguments presented. But the title is self-explanatory: time and disgusting triumph.
