About event

"The author of the poem 'Letter to my son' is my mother Ilse Weber, murdered in Auschwitz. I am Hanuš, the son spoken of in this poem."

Hanuš Weber was sent to Sweden at the age of eight as part of the "Winton" rescue operation. He lived there with Lilian - his mother's friend. Far from home, from family, from everything that the Second World War brought. He had no idea what was really going on with his mom, dad and brother Tomík. His only source of contact was letters with his mother.

How did she feel? Away from your first born son? What was her greatest wish?

The production, assembled from fragments of Ilse Weber's letters and poems, examines the inner workings of a person who had to leave something important behind. It slowly sheds light on the hazy memories hidden in rediscovered correspondence. How to come to terms with a past that hurts? How to understand mom between the lines?

The production is presented by Mikro-teatro on the occasion of the 1980s since the death of Ilsa Weberová (1903 – 1944), in the unique space of Arnold's villa in Brno.
