About event

Welcoming every new season with a tea ceremony

Welcome to an immersive two-hour Chinese tea ceremony, where we invite you to embark on a meditative journey through the four seasons. This experience is designed to help you reconnect with nature’s cycles, gently guiding you through the subtle energies of each season. Beginning with the soft awakening of spring and concluding with the stillness of winter, we will move through time in reverse, allowing you to mindfully reflect on the transitions in life and nature.

Each season is represented by a special tea collection from YIN CHA, brewed with intention and Chinese brewing techniques, and accompanied by natural sounds and aromas. As you engage your senses—taste, sound, smell, and touch—you’ll be invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and fully immerse yourself in the present moment. This reverse journey through time—from rebirth to rest—will leave you feeling calm, centered, and deeply connected to the natural rhythms of life. The experience of each tea ceremony will be enriched by dedicated moments for gentle breathwork, mindfulness meditation, and hypnotic deep relaxation.

WHAT WILL WE DO

In this two-hour session, we will guide you through four meditative tea ceremonies, each representing one of the four seasons, starting with Summer and ending in the current season of Spring.

Each tea ceremony will be a slow and mindful process, with moments for quiet reflection, gentle breathing, and simply being present. You will be guided through the subtle shifts in energy as we progress through each season, fostering a deeper connection with both nature and yourself.

WHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE

Sensory immersion: Each season is brought to life with natural sounds and scents that match the tea being brewed, varying from the vibrant sounds of summer to the serene quiet of winter.
Four seasonal teas: You will experience the flavors of four different teas, each is carefully chosen by YIN CHA to reflect the spirit of its respective season, guiding you through the emotions and energies of the year.
Meditative experience: The ceremony is designed to encourage mindfulness and presence, offering you time for introspection and a deep connection to the present moment.
Seasonal transitions: Expect to feel a gentle transition from the freshness of spring, through the vibrancy of summer, the grounding of autumn, and finally into the deep stillness of winter.

WHAT TO BRING

Comfortable clothing: Wear soft, loose-fitting clothes that allow you to sit comfortably for extended periods. Layering is recommended to adjust to the shifting seasonal energies.
A shawl or blanket: As we enter the winter portion of the ceremony, you may want to stay cozy and warm, especially during moments of quiet reflection.
An open mind: This is a space for mindfulness and quiet introspection. Come prepared to fully engage with the experience, leaving distractions behind.
Your favorite teacup (optional): If you have a teacup that holds personal significance, feel free to bring it to enhance your connection to the tea ceremony.
This Chinese tea ceremony is a journey through the seasons, offering a mindful space to reflect, renew, and reconnect with the natural world. By the time we conclude with winter, you will have traveled through a year of transitions, leaving you with a sense of clarity, calm, and inner stillness.

ABOUT YIN CHA

YIN CHA was born from the shared passion for tea by founders Shen and Mengjia, who both experienced burnout and surgery in their personal lives. During their recovery, they discovered the healing power of traditional Chinese tea. This profound experience inspired them to share the benefits of tea with others, blending centuries-old traditions with modern wellness. At YIN CHA, they believe that tea is more than just a beverage—it is an art form, a mindful practice, and a path to enhancing well-being.

At the core of YIN CHA is a dedication to craftsmanship. Shen and Mengjia honor the ancient techniques of tea-making, ensuring that each tea leaf undergoes a meticulous process to capture its full essence. From careful sourcing to expert production, every stage—from cultivation to drying—is overseen by skilled artisans. This attention to detail allows YIN CHA to offer only the finest loose-leaf teas, preserving the natural benefits, aromas, and flavors that reflect centuries of tradition.

Shen and Mengjia also believe in tea as a practice of mindfulness. Their experiences taught them that tea can be a powerful tool for inner calm and balance, much like the way Buddhist monks have used tea for meditation throughout history. At YIN CHA, they invite others to explore tea alongside mindful practices such as Gong Fu Cha, yoga, meditation, and breathwork. Whether someone seeks moments of peaceful reflection or wants to incorporate tea into their daily rituals, YIN CHA encourages them to create a personal tea practice that fosters clarity and emotional balance.

Committed to offering an authentic and mindful tea experience, YIN CHA reflects Shen and Mengjia’s dedication to craftsmanship, tradition, and personal healing. They aim to guide others on this journey of discovery, helping them explore the world of Chinese tea while embracing the transformative power of mindful living.
