About event
The set of works presented form part of a study by photographer Jon Gorospe, on a trend.
The investigation is based on the extraction and decontextualization of fundamental elements of current architecture. The smoothness of the surfaces, the modular structures and the grids, are constant in favor of an aesthetic of convergence in which passers-by – those who walk, pass or stop in cities – stand out, in an extremely simple way to identify, as they suspend the planes smooth.
The photographs function as fragments of a single, contemporary city. Accurate and minimalist records at the limit of figuration, captured in scenarios of economic and bureaucratic centers of different cities. Excerpts of buildings, advertising elements and security devices are part of this series of photographic works.
The video piece “The Grid”, explores through movement, sound and photography the morphology of the city in our daily journeys, giving special attention to the way we move, and the technological components we use to move around in urban areas.
