About event
Poetry evening for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ingeborg Bachmann with Mila Haugová and Peter Zajac
We cordially invite you to a poetry evening dedicated to one of the most important German authors of the 20th century - Ingeborg Bachmann. On the day of the 100th anniversary of her birth, a translation of selected poems by the poet and translator Mila Haugová will be heard, which will bring her work to the Slovak audience in a new light.
In the evening you will be accompanied by Mila Haugová and Peter Zajac. The program will be completed by entrances with classical music.
Ingeborg Bachmann (1926 – 1973) combined poetic language with philosophical depth in her work. She addressed the themes of existence, identity, war, power, gender relations and human vulnerability. She was able to connect personal experiences with historical events in a way that is relevant even today.
She was strongly influenced by experiences from the Nazi period, which shaped her sensitivity to social and political topics. After the war, she lived in Vienna, later in Paris and Rome. She moved among important intellectuals, had a close relationship with Paul Celan and an intense but complicated partnership with Max Frisch.
Writing was for her a life necessity and a way to penetrate to the essence of reality through language.
Entrance is free.
The event is created in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum.
We look forward to seeing you on 6/25 at 6:00 p.m.!
