About event

A conversation with Ingeborg Kuhler, Heike Hanada, Jan Kleihues, Sergei Tchoban on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition in the Tchoban Foundation

Ingeborg Kuhler is one of the most important architects in the German post-war period. Their buildings are characterized by a clear, poetic formal language, the architecture understands a synthesis of space, light and material.

The exhibition poems from rooms and colors in the Museum of Architecture Drawing of the Tchoban Foundation not only devotes itself to Kuhler's architectural work, but also its drawings and Paintings.

On the occasion of the opening, Ingeborg Kuhler talks to Heike Hanada, Jan Kleihues and Sergei Tchoban about border tours between architecture and visual art, about order and freedom, structure and emotion - those areas of tension in which design is created - and about the role of women in West German architecture at the time of German division.

She was the first design professor at a West German architecture aculty, today's University of the Arts Berlin. The exhibition presents a multi -layered chapter of Ingeborg Kuhler's oeuvre: travel sketches, watercolors and technical drawings come into a dialogue that makes architecture tangible as a visual poetry. The exhibition is accompanied by art photographs by Ivan Němec. A catalog appears on the exhibition curated by Nadejda Bartels.
