Interná kalibrácia / vernisáž výstavy

Adam Žemla is the librarian of the Old Town Library, who is dedicated to skateboarding, photography, video and writing poetry. It is these forms of creation that help him transform the inner world full of emotions, thoughts and abstract ideas into something tangible, which can be inspiring or stimulating for him and for others. He is filled with good company, deep conversations and discovering the unknown - be it places, people, languages ​​or different views of the world.

Photography found him naturally. As a keen observer of everyday events, he found in it a way to capture moments, moods and details that often escape the ordinary gaze. He is inspired by close people, his own inner world and authentic personalities who are not afraid to go against the flow.

Internal calibration

The exhibition presents a selection of photographs created during the author's teenage years. The title refers to the double meaning of calibration – the technical setting of the camera, which was (and still is) directly influenced by the intense mental calibration of the author in the given period.

The images created in various abstract and physical places capture the author's evolving view of himself as a person, an artist and a (non)member of society. The observation of the external world combined with this internal investigation created a collection of photographs, which this exhibition presents as a process of coming of age, the search for identity and the gradual formation of one's own artistic voice.

Photography acts here not only as a medium, but also as a guide on the endless journey of self-discovery.
