30. 10. 2024. 18:00 – 19:30
Voluntary entrance fee
ABOUT:
“Intersectionality in the Gallery Practice” will explore the role of intersectionality in shaping inclusivity within galleries and cultural institutions. In the discussion with Linda Dařílková we will highlight the challenges like pinkwashing, balancing ethical care with productivity, and addressing the interplay between power and inclusivity. The event's focus will be on identifying practices that foster more equitable and inclusive art spaces.
BIO:
Linda Dařílková is an intersectional feminist activist and a member of safe space collective. She studied Gender Studies study program of Charles University where she defended her Master's thesis on the topic of intersectionality. She conducted interviews with participants from 12 Czech feminist grassroot collectives. Apart from the topics of intersectionality, the output from the interviews covered also areas of inclusivity, (non)hierarchy, conflicts prevention/resolution, sustainability etc. which she is building on in other research projects together with other grassroot intersectional activists and collectives.
ACCESSIBILITY:
The event will be held in English, there is going to be an audio recording from this event and a transcript in Czech after the event available online. If you have difficulty accessing our space, please ask our staff, and we will gladly help you. The entrance is up six steps. The space is, at this moment, not accessible for wheelchair users. Dogs are allowed inside if on a leash for the safety of any exhibited sculptures and objects. Both entry and events are free of charge, although, for some events, you have to sign up beforehand. We ask visitors to come fragrance-free as we try to reduce scents in the space to accommodate people with chemical sensitivity. Our space has 11 fluorescent lights, which are turned on most of the time. If you are sensitive to light, ask us to turn off those close to the windows. There is a gender-neutral bathroom with 2 doors. Sanitary products found in the bathroom are free to use. Water is free upon request. You can also purchase a lemonade. There are armchairs and folding chairs available to sit in. If you need to stim - fidget, pace, and others - you are welcome here. For assistance or help with anything else, don’t hesitate to ask our staff.
