About event

The lecture "Ivan Levynskyi and the beginnings of Lviv modern architecture" will focus on the personality of an important architect and urban planner who influenced the entire generation of modernist architects (and not only) in Lviv. His architectural work from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries belongs to the valuable historical heritage of Lviv and represents a symbiosis of the principles of modernism with the aesthetics of Galician and Transcarpathian ethnographic morphology. His personality became the driving force that stimulated the development of the Lviv school of architecture. Ivan Levynskyi collaborated with the architectural office Fellner and Helmer, who designed, among other things, the present-day Mahen Theater in Brno, and also represented the Prague construction company Barta and Tichý in Galicia.

Architect Olga Dmytrash, assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture, lectures Lviv National Polytechnic University.

Entrance is free, the lecture will take place in the House of Gentlemen from Kunštát, Dominikánská 9, on the 1st floor in the premises of Vašulka Kitchen.

The lecture is held thanks to the cooperation of the BAM project and Brno Artists in Residence, it will be interpreted from Ukrainian to Czech.
