Whanganui is the longest River of New Zealand. In 2017 she won another first place. The New Zealand Parliament attributed her a living person status with his own rights and duties. Whoever hurts her, for example, pollution must count on serious penalties. The Iwi Maori community, which perceives the river as one of the ancestors, has sought this legislation for over 170 years. The native guide Ned Tapa takes us for a five -day cruise on the river nearly 300 kilometers long. During a quiet trip through the picturesque landscape we recognize the local ecosystem and Maori culture, but we also dive into traumatic colonial history.
