About event

🌀 We will be involved in the exhibition "I want to return home… lawsuits with the so -called Greek monarchopaths in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s" to the Institute of Memory of the Nation Brno.

👉 The exhibition will be available from October 1 to November 2, 2025

Migration waves of Greek refugees in 1948 were given great attention in terms of research (interviews with direct participants) and scientific (continuous and popularization outputs in the form of publications, exhibitions, documents). In the following migration waves of adults and the fate of their participants, the information is available less numerous and comprehensive. Part of the incoming adults on our territory was also a group of prisoners of the so -called Democratic Army, later called monarchopaths. They were under the permanent supervision of state authorities to become part of them in 1953 to be the victim of court trials fabricated by the then communist regime. Many of this group were convicted and imprisoned, and in the following year they were expelled back to Greece.

The year 2024, was the year of the anniversary of repatriation and the pilgrimage of the exhibition reflecting this event unknown both in Czech society and in the environment of the Greek national minority in the Czech Republic. Through the exhibition on the Roll-Up panels are introduced ordinary people, whose life was intervened by a completely fatal war, politics and also the fact that they occurred in a false place at a false place.

The presentation is mainly used by archival sources, the processing of which was participated in two historians (Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, the History of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University) and ethnologist (Ethnographic Institute of Moravian Museum). The output of the project is intended for the general public.
