About the event:
An engaging journey through time with the legendary climbing association JAMES, which was founded on the initiative of three friends in 1921 in the Tatras. Over a hundred years, the association has become a symbol of courage, friendship, togetherness and passion for the mountains. He survived the stormy period of the 20th century, including the difficult 50s, formed a generation of climbers who achieved extraordinary success even in the world's highest mountains, and still inspires love for mountains, freedom, and friendship.
Program:
• Film projection of Pavel Barabáš's latest documentary JAMES (2024, 76 minutes), which is a unique insight into the soul of Slovak mountaineering. It reveals a story full of passion and courage, in which the High Tatras became a symbol of strength and belonging.
• Accompanying discussion, memories and talk about climbing then and now, about its development and direction, but also about how climate change affects mountaineering routes.
The event will also include an exhibition of climbing aids by Mikuláš Mlynárčik, co-founder of SHS JAMES, a Tatra native living in Žilina.
Entrance is free.
