About event
Come to the Artforum bookstore to welcome Jana Cigániková's mature book debut, Bernardín and other women, which has just been published by the ASPEKT Book Edition.
The author Jana Cigániková will present her journey to writing about what I guess is not even spoken.
Lenka Kubriczká will introduce her first work. Illustrator Júlia Stieranková will also join. The book's publisher, Jana Cviková, moderates.
"Through the characters' experiences, which are so personal that we feel as if we should look away while reading, the author touches on the common female experience. Her metaphor cuts to the living and shines under the skin."
Nicol Hochholczerová, writer
"Accepting any standardized concept of normality means not expressing openly what one secretly thinks about, but is often ashamed to admit it to oneself. The author's writing is liberated in this, but her characters are not, because their feelings and thoughts remain hidden from others..."
Lenka Šafranová, literary critic
The event was supported from public funds by the Art Support Fund.
