About event
Janoušek–Wróblewski Quartet will perform in Prague's Jazz Dock.
Janoušek-Wróblewski Quartet (abbreviated as JWQ) is a Czech band that has existed in the same composition for eleven years. The body was created based on the cooperation of two long-term bandmates, trombonist Štěpán Janoušek (Skety, MarZ, Jazzdock Orchestra, Farma v Jeskyni) and saxophonist Michal Wrobléwský (E Converso, Toša, Karm, Futur Swing), who have been playing together since their studies. Both musicians also compose music for the band. They are complemented by precise and creative rhythms in the composition of Miloš Klápště - double bass and Jan Chalupa - percussion instruments.
The music is based on funny percussive compositions, within which the band travels through all imaginable musical genres, with echoes of avant-garde American jazz and Czech brass bands being dominant. All this is interwoven with boundless unfettered improvisation. This combination makes the band an original ensemble, whose concerts are always an extraordinary experience. JWQ recorded two albums and performed at various festivals and clubs in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia.
