About event
The new documentary reveals the life and transformation of Jaromír Nohavica - the famous, beloved and controversial author, who has been composing songs for over 40 years, what he can make and cry. Much has been written and said. But it is just a fragment of the overall image of this distinctive and ambiguous personality.
So what is the famous, adored and condemned songwriter actually? His life and the picture would be different if he did not take over the Pushkin Prize (for the translations of the songs Vysocky and Okudžavy) by President Putin. A man who unleashed the war in Ukraine and is referred to as a war criminal. This fact puts Nohavica in the wrong light, although in the first decade of his professional pathway, at the harsh normalization times, he was a warrior with the regime and received what he sang and said at his concerts, several prohibitions. As the world around it changes, it is reflected in topics that also processes in the atmosphere of its concerts, which are always sold out. Because at his concert everyone finds their own. One pleases, the other laughs, the third crying. But he does not always appear as a soloist. He cooperates with various musical ensembles, such as the Čechomor or the Janáček Philharmonic. He has over 500 own songs, a lot of poems, and at least 120 texts and translations of songs for other artists. The ones he wrote for Marie Rottrová are known, but less is known to have written for Petr Janda and the lemon group. Nohavica is also the most translated Czech song author. His songs are sung by Polish, English, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Hungarian, Spanish, Italian. He refers to himself in the Indian name "One who composes and sings songs", but can and does much more. The document could easily be called "500 shades of Jaromír Nohavica," because his personality has as many shades as he put into his songs.
