Topic: Local lives of antibiotics: Cultural practices of prescribing and consumption of antibiotics
How is the prescribing antibiotics? What social, cultural and organizational factors affect their consumption? The lecture will present the project of local lives of antibiotics, which examines how historical context, health care system and daily practice of doctors/rivers and patients/TEK form the use of antibiotics. The project approach is based on the concept of One Health, ie the interrelation of human health, animals and the environment.
What does "rational" prescription of antibiotics actually mean? And really higher health literacy automatically leads to "more rational" management? The lecture will offer a critical reflection of key concepts and assumptions that dominate the debates on antibiotic resistance and focus on how social sciences can enrich this discussion.
