Jasmine Myra: Euphoric instrumental music
After a sensational show last year, comes the British saxophonist Jasmine Myra Visit us again in October and bring a new album with you. Beautifully arranged, “Rising” combines Jasmine Myra’s musical influences between Kenny Wheeler, Bonobo, Olafur Arnalds and Shabaka Hutchings into a harmonious whole. Her spiritual instrumental music has a euphoric and uplifting sound and has a very special quality - voluptuous, melodic and blissful, without descending into sentimentality.
Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra is from Leeds and lives today in London. She has been signed to Gondwana Records since 2022 and works closely with label owner and producer Matthew Halsall, whose sense of talent has already brought the music of GoGo Penguin, Mammal Hands and Hania Rani to the world. In the summer of 2022, she released her highly acclaimed debut album, "Horizons", which was received enthusiastically by critics. Her career quickly took off with club shows and festival appearances across the UK and mainland Europe.
"Rising" takes off seamlessly matches the quality of its predecessor and is an important statement for British jazz. She recorded the album again with the guitarist Ben Haskins, the drummer George Hall, the pianist Jasper Green, the harpist Alice Roberts and the bassist Sam Quintana Together they skillfully underline the subtle textures of Myra's music and play with a collective sensitivity and dynamic that really sends the music on a radiant journey Don't miss!
