About event
The series of Jazz Dialogue concerts in the U Staré paní club in Prague invites you to the very heart of music creation. As the name suggests, the main theme is dialogue - undirected, lively and fascinating communication between first-class musicians. Jazz is a conversation without words and that's exactly what you can expect this evening.
JAN KYNCL is a saxophonist and composer who is one of the prominent faces of the young Czech jazz generation. He regularly collaborates with the best of Czech jazz and alternative music, either as a sideman or a leader. He is currently involved in the projects Jan Kyncl Quartet, Kyncl Culture, FaKyn, Kristina Barta Quartet, Jan Smigmator & Band, Jan Smigmator Big Band, Camoes House Band. He also collaborates with big bands such as Jazz Dock Orchestra or Gustav Brom's Radio Big Band. In addition to his varied musical activities, he works as a music dramaturg at Czech Radio.
TOMÁŠ MIKA is a guitarist and composer from Prague who works in many bands with a wide range of genres. He leads and composes music for the TokDat quartet combining elements of prog rock, minimalism, modern jazz and electronic music. He is actively involved in gypsy jazz (Futur Swing), folk music (primarily Balkan), which he co-arranges for the FBQ quintet, or early 20s jazz as a banjoist of the OPSO band. He also works in the Gustav Brom Radio Big Band or as a guest in the Jazzdock Orchestra big band. In the past, he was a member of the Berg Orchestra, which focuses on contemporary classical music. Since 2020, he has been teaching jazz guitar at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory.
