Jazz On The Roof: Jaroslav Šindler Quartet

As part of the Jazz On The Roof summer concert series, chamber jazz ensembles will perform on the roof of the Jazz Dock every Saturday, offering a pleasant atmosphere of acoustic jazz, refined solos and summer relaxation.

The Jaroslav Šindler Quartet consists of four experienced soloists, Jaroslav Šindler (guitar), Jan Štolba (tenor sax), Vít Švec (double bass) and Jan Červenka (drums). Their music is an intersection of varied musical careers, ranging in style from jazz to funk, from classical music to free improvisation and beyond. Each of the musicians has collaborated with excellent jazz players (Jiří Stivín, Alan Vitouš, Michel Montanaro, John Serry, Dean Brown, etc.).

The quartet plays exclusively the original repertoire, freshly captured on the album Fjordy, the compositions range in style from swing-bop to Latin to jazz ballads. Sometimes the gentlemen also venture into slightly experimental things like dodecaphonic funk and other subtle idiosyncrasies. And expect lots of jazz improv too!
