Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw & Brandee Younger in Tolhuistuin

Harpist Brandee Younger is an unmistakable presence within contemporary jazz and the title "Rising Star", which she was assigned by the American magazine Downbeat in 2020, is more than outgrown. In 2022, for example, she was the first woman of color nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Instrumental Composition" category. In recent years she has worked with Lakecia Benjamin, Robert Glasper, Makaya McCraven, Common, Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane, Ron Carter, Lauryn Hill and John Legend. Her last and seventh album "Brand New Life" is an ode to the work of cross -border Dorothy Ashby.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw consists of Dutch jazz musicians of world class. The Bigband is one of the top in Europe, won several Edison Awards and previously collaborated with top musicians such as Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman & James Carter. The orchestra wants to make jazz accessible for new generations for more than a century, but also looks ahead and works together with contemporary (jazz) musicians from all over the world.
