About event
The second autumn JAZZY NIGHT will be held on Sunday, October 20 in the newly opened premises of Karma Coffee at Tranovského 1060/5 in Liptovský Mikuláš. We will welcome legendary jazz stars from Prešov together with a special guest, American jazz trumpeter John Daversa.
John Daversa is an American trumpeter and EVI player, composer, conductor, arranger and teacher who has won numerous awards, including three Grammy for his album American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom. He collaborated with Fiona Apple, Burt Bacharach, Joe Cocker, Herbie Hancock, Bob Mintzer's Big Band, Regina Spektor, Andy Williams and the bands The Yellowjackets and Moonchild.
AMC Trio has been playing since 1993. In the 90s in those years they mainly devoted themselves to playing jazz standards and accompanying domestic as well as foreign soloists. At the beginning of the new century, they began to specialize in their own repertoire that deviated from the usual jazz procedure, rhythm and harmonies. In their music, you can feel the influences of other musical genres, such as pop, classical, folklore, rock, etc. In 2006, they released their first CD Thor-Iza as a trio. Since then they have released their next albums always with attractive musical guests: Ulf Wakenius, Randy Brecker, Philip Catherine, Eric Marienthal, Regina Carter, Ada Rovatti and others. In addition to these, they collaborated with a whole host of other world jazz musicians such as Bill Evans, Michael Patches Stewart, Mark Whitfield, Bob Franceschini, Andy Middleton and many others. In 2013, AMC Trio won the Radio Head Award for their album One Way Road To My Heart, which they recorded with legend Randy Brecker. In 2015, when recording the album Very Keen Attack, AMC Trio enriched the acoustic sound with a lot of electric sounds and expanded the trio with three more musicians: guitarist Samuel Marinčák, keyboardist Petr Kočiš and percussionist Miroslav Szirmai, whom we also had the opportunity to experience on the stage of our festival. Thus, AMC Trio Plus was born, with whom they played many concerts and who also participated in the recording of their album "Plus" from 2019. Samuel Marinčák gradually became the main guitarist of the group. They have currently released their eighth album "Following The Light" on the German label JazzLine-Leopard again with Randy Brecker, where Brecker's saxophonist wife Ada Rovatti is also a guest.
Entrance in advance 17 EUR / on the spot 20 EUR. 50% discount on the full price of admission for the disabled, pensioners from the age of 65, teachers and students, including students of art schools.
