About event
The concert There's jazz, Christmas is coming offers the work of popular Bulgarian composer Josif Cankov (1911-1971). His beautiful music evokes joy, optimism and good mood, so in the magical pre-Christmas period we invited musicians who know how to combine the extraordinary richness of the musical heritage of composer Josif Cankov with the explosiveness and freedom of jazz improvisation. The trombone quartet expresses its respect and enthusiasm for his work, transforming the composer's classic opuses into a new, contemporary outfit.
Josif Cankov left an indelible mark on Bulgarian music, his eternal compositions inspire musicians and art lovers. His songs and compositions carry a strong emotional charge and at the same time are extremely expressive. The musical arrangement for trombone quartet is a great example of how Josif Cankov's music flows through time and is still relevant even in contemporary interpretations.
The project was realized by members of the trombone quartet
• Velislav Stojanov – trombone and arrangement of compositions
• Ivan Melin – trombone
• Max Stojanov – trombone
• Dimitar Stoev – trombone
Under the leadership of Velislav Stojanov, who is the grandson of the great Josif Cankov, the group interprets a specially created cycle of 20 miniatures for trombone quartet by an important composer.
The arrangement, created by Velislav Stojanov himself, combines the classic sound of Bulgarian music with an innovative approach to improvisation and chamber interpretation.
You have a unique opportunity to enjoy a live performance of talented musicians who will show you their own opinion on the art of music and bring the spirit of Bulgarian music into the festive atmosphere.
Join us in Bratislava and immerse yourself in the musical heritage of the great composer Josif Cankov, full of emotions and creativity that have transcended time and tradition.
