About event

🌍 Festival Jeden Svet and media portal Kapitál, on the occasion of the screening of the film "Pri zemi" (director: Tomáš Elšík, 2025) and at the same time the publication of Wendell Berry's book "The Motionless Pilgrim" (Kapitál, 2025), invite you to a discussion about how to be engaged and at the same time remain sensitive in the midst of the environmental crisis.

🦅 Film "Pri earth" outlines the psychological and philosophical motivations of conservationists, but also their disillusionment. Touching care for the landscape and animals takes place here in direct proximity to the ruthlessness of the industrial economy. Through two human-animal stories, we follow the struggle for the future shape of the world, which is often invisible to the public.

📘 The themes of preserving biodiversity are also followed by Wendell Berry's essays, which we will present at the event.

👥 We will talk about the making of the film and its message with its author, director Tomáš Elšík, who has already made the successful documentary Central Bus Station. Ornithologist Mário Kern will introduce us to the everyday reality of conservationists.

The discussion will be moderated by educator and restaurateur Jakub Huba.

🎥 The discussion will take place in the Lumière Cinema after the end of the film Pri zemi (83 minutes) and will last approximately 45 minutes.
