Poisonous plants contain chemicals that can cause harmful or toxic effects in humans, animals or even other plants. These substances can be present in leaves, flowers, fruits, roots or stems. However, there is no need to immediately start eliminating these plants. If we recognize them, we will find that they are often aesthetic, medicinal or otherwise useful. This educational program introduces participants to poisonous plant species that they may encounter in their surroundings, in the wild or in gardens. However, emphasis will be placed on the occurrence of poisonous plants in the public space of cities and towns. Participants will learn what the main groups of toxins are, how plants can be dangerous for humans and animals, which plants are the most dangerous, and they will get to know the principles of prevention in relation to different age groups, with an emphasis on the specifics of public greenery and greenery of school facilities. The lecturer will explain the principles of first aid and the issue of allergic reactions. An important part will be good and bad examples from the field of nature protection and public greenery and discussions of specific cases from the training participants' practice.
