Jeremy Pelt has developed from an insider tip to the world star in jazz periphery in recent years. More than highly valued by music colleagues, the visionary convinces with a soulful and expressive tone, despite its precise and almost razor -sharp articulation. Without a doubt he is one of the outstanding young trumpeters of this generation. With his newly formed quintet, after his breathtaking last year's concert, Jeremy presented uncompromising state-of-the-art-art-modern jazz of the extra class!
Pelt has been playing trumpet since his earliest childhood and studied at the renowned Berklee College. He moved to New York after his graduation and conquered the scene like in a storm. His collaborations include appearances and recordings with Wayne Shorter, Jimmy Heath, Ravi Coltrane, John Hicks, Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, Louis Hayes, Mulgrew Miller, Lewis Nash and Wayne Escoffery. This list could be continued for a long time.
Pelt often appears with such well -known ensembles as the Roy Hargrove Big Band, Village Vanguard Orchestra and the Duke Ellington Big Band and is a member of the Lewis Nash and the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band Featuring Louis Hayes. As a leader, Pelt has taken up on albums and went on tour with its various ensembles worldwide, whereby he performed on many big jazz festivals and in many concert halls.
Pelts recordings and appearances have brought him the recognition of the critics both nationally and internationally. The legendary jazz author and producer Nat Hentoff introduced him to the Wall Street Journal, and the Downbeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalist Association chose him for five years in a row as a rising star on the trumpet.
In addition to his musical activity, Jeremy Pelt works as an author and has made an important contribution with his GRIOT book series to process and study the heir and the origin of important jazz musicians in relation to their African American origin.
