About event

Through the family stories of several Palestinian men and women living in the Czech Republic, the book "If I have to die, let it be a story" brings the Palestinian perspective, which is desperately underrepresented in our public consciousness. In the discussion, we will be interested in the lives of Palestinians in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, their relationship to what is happening in Palestine with spillovers into culture and art. Philosopher Michal Lipták will moderate the discussion with the artist Yara Abu Aataya, the compiler of the book Terezá Langrová and the teacher Omar Beiruti.

The event was supported from public resources by the Fund for the Support of Art and the Foundation of the City of Bratislava.

The event is organized by the monthly magazine Kapitál in cooperation with literarnyklub.sk and will take place during the Cez prah 2024 Housing Festival in the Rómer House in Bratislava.

The event is part of the Perspectives project – a new brand for independent, constructive and multi-perspective journalism. More about the project here: goethe.de/perspectives_eu.
