About event
The Apollo Ensemble is known for its versions of special passions and now also the ensemble has discovered a blood -curdling beautiful work: "Jesu Deine Passion", a passion of Stölzel, contemporary of Bach. An unknown name for many people. But almost everyone knows the song "Bist du Bei Mir". It is known as a work by Bach, but not Bach but Stölzel is the composer of this.
"Jesu Deine Passion" is a passion in the form of six rounded cantates, "Andachten", for four singers and instrumental ensemble. They are six scenes that musical meditations are made about, in a very personal way and you could compare them with the Stations of the RC tradition.
Each part is preceded by a Sinfonia from J.S. Bach. As a result, the cantates are, as it were, connected to each other.
