JFB 2025: Nate Smith

In recent years, Nate Smith has been one of the most watched and influential drummers of their generation. It is not only because he focused, among other things, on the creation of a series of viral videos that recorded million views. He is simply remarkable in all respects. The turning point occurred at sixteen when he heard the album of the Year, the famous recording of Arta Blakey and Jazz Messengers from 1981. He began to seriously devote himself to jazz drumming, but also studied design and other artistic fields. His first big team was playing with Betty Carter at the famous Blue Note club in New York. This started his remarkable era of working with top artists, thanks to which he created a portfolio that can envy him.
