About event
Musical and life couple Terezia Fialová and Jiří Bárta created the dramaturgy of the concert exclusively for the festival. Visitors will hear Sonata for violin and piano from their latest joint CD Janáček (Animal Music 2024) arranged by Jiří Bárta; Beethoven's Sonata no. 5 in D majorfor piano, which is part of their joint double album (Animal Music 2021) containing a complete recording of Beethoven's sonatas for piano and cello; and the sonata form will close with Sonata for cello and piano no. 1from 1939, which Martinů wrote in Paris as a reaction to the creation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and to the French cellist Pierre Fournier. Two variations on Rossini's theme will close the program. The first was composed by Nicolo Paganini, who was a personal friend of Rossini, and adapted for cello and piano in the 20th century by cellist Luigi Silva. The second was composed more than a century later by Bohuslav Martinů.
