Trio of the renowned Czech flutist, composer and bandleader Jiří Válk again in Champagneria! Jazz standards, Latin American music and funk will be played in an authentic presentation together with original compositions.

He studied at the conservatory in Kroměříž with Robert Sláma and the Academy of Performing Arts
in Prague under Josef Bok and František Čech. After completing his studies, he worked as a member of the Czech nonet, the chamber ensemble of the Czech Philharmonic (1964-1975). With this ensemble, he performed concerts throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and Hong Kong. Since 1975, he has been the solo flutist of the Czech Philharmonic. He performed as a soloist at the Prague Spring, in the subscription series of the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, Ars rediviva, with the Dvořák, Suk and Philharmonic Chamber Orchestras, as well as at the Tribune of Young Artists festivals, the Week of New Creation, in the Czech television, most often in the series Music from Respiration, etc. He gave solo concerts abroad, e.g. in Germany, Austria, Mallorca and Japan. Vanguard Classics, Naxos, Octavia Records and more. The complete recording of Handel's flute sonatas was awarded the Supraphon Golden Record.
From 1972 to 1978 he taught at the conservatory in Prague, from 1978 he was first an external pedagogue and docent, now he is a professor of flute playing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He is a member of juries at international competitions in Prague (6x), Geneva (2x), Budapest (3x) and Krakow (2x). He led master classes in Austria (1994-2005), in Japan and in Prague.
He is also active in the area of jazz. In addition to many performances in clubs, at jazz festivals and numerous recordings, he is the author of about 30 jazz compositions, recorded on the radio, on TV and on gramophone records. He regularly teaches flute at the Czech Jazz Workshop in Prague.
As a jazz musician, during his career he collaborated with domestic and occasionally foreign jazz stars, e.g. Vincenc Kummer, Karel Růžička, Alan Vitouš, Laco Deczi, Josef Vejvoda, Vojtěch Eckert, Svatopluk Košvanec, Mojmír Bártek, Karel Velebný and many others. His big band J.V. & Friends Orchestra recorded several records of original compositions and jazz standards.
