At the end of 1963, Havel's Garden Festival premiered in Prague. Just a few months later in Brno Král-Vávra by Milan Uhde. Both plays were a revelation on Czech stages and both showed so many common features that it was surprising that they were created independently of each other. They started a short but famous era of "Czech model drama".
The lecture will present the specifics of this genre, its most important representatives and the contemporary milieu against which it was formed.
