The basic source of information about plant diversity at the type of species is encyclopedic works of May. The Czech Republic is one of the countries with a rich floristic tradition and long -term targeted research of phytodiversity, which enabled the commencement of the project Flora of the Czech Republic.

Today the Czech Republic has completed modern national May, which in nine volumes on 5,810 pages includes information about almost 4,000 species growing in our territory. We will try to reveal the history of the preparation of this monumental work, briefly look behind the scenes of his work, in short we will introduce some of his main actors.
