Jolanta Brach-Czaina / Eva Prchalová: CRACKS OF EXISTENCE 🧹
“It would be naive to think that chaos comes only from the outside. It's everywhere. Even in me. When I pick up scattered things and mop the floor, I stand on the side of order against destruction.”
Every gesture made, every movement, every decision could just as well not come about. So how can EVERYDAY LIFE be perceived at all?
A combination of philosophical precision and poetry?
Every second something happens around us, but we don't notice it. Everyday life exists as if it were not at the same time. He sweeps his tracks behind him. Reflections on the everyday have the power to awaken a person. Come to your senses, he says, stop and perceive! If you don't, you'll dissolve into ignorance.
Searching for the Everyday is a crime puzzle - detective work is required!
In addition to literally calling out for action, the Squirrels of Existence reject the European philosophical attention based on the investigation of origins and essences, and instead tries to perceive the world and the role of man through the "cracks of existence" in the sphere of the everyday, which traditional philosophy usually sees it as an unimportant case.
"At the same time, in a brief spark of consciousness, we can see what we consider to be chaos as another order. Vast, natural. We then recognize the forces of destruction in our own actions. And doubts take hold of us. For a moment. Then we return to the usual work, because we cannot stand up against our own destiny....”
Jolanta Brach – Czaina (1955 – 2021) published her literary-philosophical book The Cracks of Existence in 1992, and in her native Poland this set of nine essays became a literary sensation. The author studied physics and philosophy in Poland, then film direction in Paris. She devoted herself to the theory and philosophy of culture, gender studies and philosophical anthropology.
