Joshua Curran + curtains please

Where the indies head at? Another of the MeetFactory summer concert series on Tuesday, August 11 in the backyard behind the Smíchov factory will present two fresh home projects: Joshua Curran & curtains please.

Joshua Curran, an emerging singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with Czech-Irish roots, finds inspiration in his work from the indie-rock icons of the past decade. The influence of bands like The Kooks, Inhaler or Arctic Monkeys is clearly prescribed in the first singles Star Tonight and Ninety Five, but with the long-playing records Can We Still Dance and Anyway, Curran discovers his own, experimental guitar handwriting. In the backyard, MeetFactory will present, among other things, an exclusive selection of unreleased material.

curtains please are a recent addition to the domestic alternative scene. The Prague-based duo currently creates music in their basement studio, from where they released two singles: Rain for you and Hearts of steel. The sound of the winners of this year's Startér on Radio Wave is defined by an introspective, song-writing melancholy, which they project into a wide range of genres. As Headliner magazine puts it: "They're two guys. They've got guitars. And they're not afraid to use them."
