About event
Jota Quest is a Brazilian pop rock band formed in 1993 in the city of Belo Horizonte. It was for liking funk rock and accident jazz that bassist PJ and drummer Paulinho Fonseca decided to form a band. Then guitarist Marco Túlio Lara and keyboardist Márcio Buzelin joined the group. Rogério Flausino began his performance in the whole after being chosen in a test with more than eighteen candidates.
The group was successful during the 1990s and 2000s, with several successful songs, including “Better Days”, “Love Greater”, “Only Today”, “On Your Side” and “Easy”. They have sold more than 5 million recordings throughout their career, making them one of the most sold musical artists in Brazil. The group did their first show as J. Quest, inspired by the cartoon Jonny Quest and the accident band Jazz Jamiroquai, idea of bassist PJ. At the time, the group circulated through the Belo Horizonte bars and colleges circuit and even gathered more than two thousand people per present. With that, the band was gaining space. The contract with Sony Music came next and the first album was released in August 1996. The look of the 70s, represented on the cover of the debut album for characteristic and huge black power wigs of the time, pleased the public and the media. It was not long before the songs “The Pain of the World” (version of the song of Hyldon) and “find someone” to conquer the radios all over Brazil. But it took time yet to perform on television. On January 11, 1997, they were invited by Xuxa to perform on the program that was called “Xuxa Hits” from Rede Globo at the time. It was Jota Quest's first presentation on open television. The most success of the album, "Just Today", almost did not enter the repertoire, with the other members not being interested in the composition of Flausino before the producer limited to declare that they needed another song on the album.
on June 17, 2023, to celebrate with style their 25 years of career (completed in 2021), the band recorded at the Beira-Rio stadium, another DVD, which counted on their career, that counted The special guest appearances by Rael, Vitor Kley and Beto Lee, son of singer Rita Lee. The show also was broadcast live on the Globoplay streaming service and also by the Multishow subscription channel.
