Do you feel lost in the cosmos? Welcome to the Vortex – a world created by eclectic European indie sensation Judy Blank. Impossible to pin down yet easily transforming the chaos of life into catchy melodies, the blue-eyed songwriter invites you into Lil Mood, her latest EP. Dipped in pastel colors, decorated with checkerboard floors and dinosaurs, it's a place where nostalgia meets the unexpected - and every song feels like a scene from a movie you'd like to live in.

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Blank fell in love with classic American cinema - shimmering desert evenings, endless highways and outsiders in search of meaning. She celebrated her first breakthrough in Europe: she toured the club scene, played at major festivals and enchanted her audience with unconventional stories and razor-sharp wit. But her fascination with the American Dream never left her - and led her to Nashville, where she recorded her coming-of-age debut Morning Sun in the style of the 70s. The album received international acclaim, was praised by Elton John and earned her an RIAA Gold award for her edgy folk ballad Tangled Up in You. Soon after, she made history: becoming the first Dutch artist ever to play at AmericanaFest in Nashville - and proving that she can compete in the old-school league, even if she's still the weirdest one in the room.

After moving to the US last year, Blank quickly grew her cult following - touring across the country with SUSTO and Wild Child, opening for Noah Kahan and Flipturn, supporting Michael Marcagi and Katie Pruitt on her European tours and even played at Willie Nelson's legendary Luck Reunion. Her idiosyncratic, genre-busting style didn't go unnoticed: This year she signed with Rounder Records, where her new album Big Mood will be released in August. The first, synth-soaked single Dinosaurs marked the start of a bold new chapter. Since her release, Blank has been featured in Clash Magazine, No Depression and Variety, landed in the Top 10 of Spotify's Fresh Folk Playlist - and was even named DJ Pick of the Week at Nashville's leading indie station Lightning 100.

Like many pioneers, she refuses to be pigeonholed. One moment she silences festival audiences with folky 70s lyrics, the next moment she stirs up a club with a fuzzy 60s track, enveloped in 80s synths - forever floating between the decades. Even if her heart beats for the old, she is not interested in nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. Her songs move like a restless camera - they capture love, longing and quiet struggles that hardly anyone talks about. Blank doesn't shy away from tackling issues like mental health, climate change and social injustice - she's always on the side of the underdog.

Press play, credits roll: Judy Blank is well on her way to becoming a cult classic. Just wait and see how her story unfolds.
