Koan : paradoxical anecdote / riddle without a solution.
.....origin in Japanese : 'matter for public reflection'.
The solo "KOAN" is a reflection of a lonely journey through the contemporary landscape, where an individual seeks clarity and understanding of himself in the midst of noise and chaos. It speaks to the paradoxical nature of our existence floating in the depths of collective consciousness, oscillating between confusion and insight, rage and calm. Like a traditional koan, it encourages reflection and introspection. It encourages us to explore the depths of our own minds.
Julyen Hamilton, world-renowned performer and educator with over 40 years of experience in instant composition and improvisation. He perceives theater as a space for transformation and insight. He collaborates with various artists and leads his own dance group Allen's Line.
