Tour 2025
11/19/2025 - Peter Edel

The musician Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson, who was raised and born in the Westman Islands, has been releasing music for several years under the name Júníus Meyvant.
In his early twenties, Unnar came across a dented one in his parents' house guitar and started messing around. By playing the guitar he managed to tame his inner beast and his feeling for songs and melodies shot up like a rocket. The uncontrollable urge to write music and the constant flow of ideas kept him tossing and turning every night and every day - forever and ever.
Júníus Meyvant's troubled, concise, melodic and rich take on freaky folk - pop has a very familiar and emotive feel and touch of
attitude. Júníus' wide sound palette is all-encompassing and consists of his sultry voice, crackling guitars, pounding rhythms topped by horns, synths and Mellotron. The thirty-year-old musician, who has been compared to Sam Cooke, Charles
Bradley, the Rolling Stones and Devendra Banhart, already has several singles, an EP and an LP under his belt.
After successful tours in Europe and the USA (including appearances at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and Bumbershoot in Seattle), Júníus released his debut album Floating Harmonies
in 2016
