About event

Edi Köhldorfer - Guitar / František Uhlíř - double bass / Jesse Simpson - drums

multinational and nadgeneration trio K.U.S. Jazz is stirred up by the Jazz

star line -up of Austrian guitarist Edi Köhldorfer, the legendary Czech bassist František Uhlíř and American drummer Jesse Simpson, does not only resume the jazz "classic". He will enjoy the repertoire, for example, with inspiration from ethnic music or contagious contemporary groovy. In Prague's Chodov fortress will perform 18 September 2025.

k.u.s. The trio is a new line -up, but also established. He knows the stage cooperation of Edi Köhldorfer and František Uhlíř (not only) the Czech jazz audience thanks to a tour played in 2019, and concerts in later years. The common repertoire recorded the album Old Souls (2020), released by the Austrian brand ATS Records. Only then was another legendary player, Jaromir Helešic, and the name of the lineup was the Kuh Trio. At the same time, however, we can look forward to new things. Also because Edi Köhldorfer has since released, for example, the award -winning album The Riddance (2022), on which he absorbed and processed in addition to the influences of jazzrock, modal jazz, blues and hip -hop rhythms such as traditional African, Indian and even Chinese music. Two more albums followed, Fish & Fowl (2023) and Hover (2024). It can be assumed that many of this will also revive the concert of the trio, playing the author's composition from Old Souls, as well as jazz standards. "The compositions with imaginative motifs are diversified by the repertoire, yet they do not get lost in addition to the standards. For example, the teaching ballad of Heart to Heart still vital and typically melodically bassing František Uhlíř," wrote Tomáš S. Polívka for Uni magazine. eclectic. At the University of Graz, he studied a classic guitar, at the conservatory in Vienna again the composition and guitar of jazz, but during his studies he performed with rock bands. At the same time, he has cooperated with the Vienna Philharmonic (Vienna Philharmonic), the Vienna Symphonics (Wiener Symphoniker), the opera singer José Carreras and a number of bands of function, soul and pop. Including the band Global Kryner, which represented Austria at Eurovision Song Contest. All this determined his distinctive style. He also played with such stars as the singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, a brilliant Hammond player Barbara Dennerlein, a guitarist BiRéli Lagrène or drummer Stewart Copeland, a former member of The Police. He debuted on the albums as a bandleader of the Tio Speak with the title Listen or Speak (1995), today he has a ten album as a leader or a co -operative. However, it is worth reminding of a few sets and musicians with whom he combined his musical career to realize the breadth of his shot and meaning for the (not only) domestic jazz scene. At the beginning of the 70s. Emil Viklický, Rudolf Dašek, Jiří Stivín, Jana Koubková, Peter Lipa or Laco Deczi considered cooperation with him. However, he has also established himself on the International Stage, East-West Connection, Czech-Norwegian Band, Europlane Orchestra or Prague-Vienna Connection. He has literally performed around the world, including the US, Canada or Japan. He played in Wuh Trio with Wilkins Skip, Davle Weckl, Pavel Mikkelborg and Scott Hamilton. In the role of Sideman, we can hear him from almost three dozen albums. He published the first band and author album Bass Saga in 1984 and used it, in addition to colleagues - jazzmen and the Prague Chamber Orchestra. In 1987 he founded his own line -up František Uhlíř Team and leads it to this day. Between 2007 and 2010 he graduated from Manhattan School of Music, then played as Sideman with Marc Copland, Kevin Hays, Joe Lovan or John Abercrombi. In 2022, however, fate took him to the Czech Republic, where he sets off to other European countries and the US.
